Terra vitis and HVE 3

The Clos Dubreuil winery is “Terra Vitis” certified. It thus meets a set of specifications that requires responsibility and progress based on three pillars of sustainable development — commitment to the environment, corporate responsibility and economic sustainability — which means recognition and validation of the work done by men and women, and assurance of reliability for the consumer. With a Level 3 High Environmental Value (HVE) certification (the highest level), the winery is also currently converting to organic production.

Agroforestry and ecosystems

The term agroforestry refers to practices that involve combining vegetation, livestock and crops on the same agricultural plot in order to maintain and stimulate an ecosystem. This protects the land from global warming and pest invasions. The goal is to be part of a quest for sustainable development. Consequently, the use of plant cover protects the vines. Planting hedges and fruit trees facilitates insect development. The installation of bat and birdhouses activates biodiversity. The presence of beehives encourages the arrival of pollinators. All of these ensure this ecosystem’s balance. Likewise, the farming methods place emphasis on manual labor (which allows for greater precision) and livestock (a horse) to work the soil. Use of fuel is considerably reduced. The soil is naturally decompacted by planting vegetables under the rows in winter.
