The vineyards have three grape varieties: 70% Merlot, 25% Cabernet franc and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon planted in 2010 to give the vintage complexity and depth.

A Family Affair
Merlot, the king of grape varieties
Merlot is planted on the north side, Cabernet Franc on the plateau and Cabernet Sauvignon on the south side. This strategy also allows for better adaptation of soil typicity and rootstock.

Reorganizing the vines to preserve them
Clay and limestone soil
Reorganization of the vineyards began in 2021. This work anticipates the impact of global warming on grape varieties.

Man and terroir
Terroir is the result of a unique combination - climate, soil and a man capable of analyzing these elements to plant what is most likely to flourish. Clos Dubreuil’s soil is essentially clay resting on limestone, a structure favorable for planting Merlot and Cabernet Franc. Located on the top of hillsides that benefit from natural drainage, the varieties are planted at an average altitude of 80 meters (262 feet).
Rejuvenation of the vineyards
The average age of the vineyards is between 70 and 80 years old. The old vines produce excellent grapes, but in quantities that decrease with each harvest. Rejuvenation of the vineyards is therefore underway using adapted rootstocks in order to guarantee a better yield in 30 years and, more importantly, even higher and consistent quality.
