a vineyard
cultivated like a garden

clos dubreuil farms small plots of land to produce exceptional wines. we are a walled garden : a clos

In creating the finest wine possible, everything must start with the terroir. Clos Dubreuil has meticulously assembled a number of small plots of vines over the past two decades, each with its own unique qualities but unified by exceptional location and terroir. Over time, we have come to intimately understand the identities and personalities of the different plots. The resulting wine benefits tremendously from the diverse plots, each with different soils, micro-climates, and harvest dates. We curate each wine to suit its vintage while still maintaining the singular character of Clos Dubreuil.

Today, Clos Dubreuil’s vines are grown in 9 plots spread throughout Saint-Émilion, though the majority reside near the estate on the limestone plateau in Saint-Christophe-des-Bardes. In addition to Merlot and Cabernet Franc, we also grow Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay.

"

The diversity of our plots and the dominance of Merlot result in an original, powerful, profound and complex wine. Recognizable among all.

respectful farming practices

Clos Dubreuil maintains an approach to wine growing that is dedicated to quality and sustainability. The vines are worked using traditional farming practices like hand pruning and horse plough. The respect paid to the vines is repaid with superior fruit at the end of the growing season. Maintaining our uncompromising philosophy of respectful and careful viticulture, grapes are harvested by hand.
